This was a picture I took a couple of years ago for my portraits project. I have taken street photographs since then but this one stands out for me, so I thought this would give it my best shot.
I took this image in Newcastle city centre where the EDL were protesting at a Free Palestine rally. I saw this chap with his dog and knew he would make a great portrait subject. I don’t like to take clandestine portraits so I plucked up the courage to ask him if he would let me take a photograph of him and his dog. The Winston Churchill pose was his idea.
Technical details: taken with a Fuji X100S, 1/170s at f/5.6, ISO 400, 23mm.
How did I do?
I didn’t get placed in the top 50. Ah well, Onwards and upwards!
