This picture shows the The Walkie-Talkie building (20 Fenchurch Street) in the City of London financial district. It gets the 'Walkie-Talkie' nickname because of its distinctive shape.

When taking this picture, I spent a while exploring the building from different angles. I wanted to emphasise the lines and curve of the building but at the same time I wanted to simplify the composition and avoid the many other buildings nearby — quite a challenge in the City of London.

This unusual view, looking upwards from one edge of the building, gave me the result I wanted. A black and white treatment seemed the obvious choice to emphasise the building's key design elements.
