I’m a portrait and landscape photographer based in Staffordshire.
Portrait and landscape photography is an unusual combination. They go together like… pizza and pineapple. People tend to be one or the other, but rarely both.
Landscape photographers… well, they much prefer their own company. If you were at a convention of landscape photographers, few of them would be at the bar. They would mainly be in their rooms, “So I can catch the early light”.
But really, they just want to be alone.
Portrait photographers on the other hand… they tend to be extroverted. They enjoy being around people. The bar at their convention would be buzzing.
But if I was at a convention of portrait photographers, I’d probably be the first one to go to bed early.
You see, I have both of these traits. I like being with people but after a while I need my own space to reflect.
Although it’s an odd combination, I believe there’s a lot of similarity between the two genres. You could argue that a good landscape photograph is a portrait of a place. And a good portrait photograph reveals the landscape of a person.
Here’s some competitions I’ve done well in:
I’m always on the lookout for interesting photo opportunities and l’ll gladly consider ‘time for…’ shoots if my portfolio will benefit from the results.
Who knows, we may go for a drink in the bar afterwards. Or just go our separate ways. Whatever.
So if you would benefit from a good guy with a camera, get in touch!
