This image shows a lone tree in Llyn Padarn near Llanberis, Snowdonia.

I'm not sure why lone trees are so photogenic. They are obvious symbols of loneliness, longevity and survival and that is only emphasised when the tree sits in the shallow end of a lake, as here. From my perspective, I find a lone tree helps create a simple, uncluttered scene with a clear subject. Remove the tree from this image and it's not clear where to focus.
